Growing up, lots of life took place around our big wooden table that Dad had made. We would spend hours there; cooking, eating, chatting, laughing, reading, playing games, and gathering people.
This is where my love for tables stems from. I have always loved hosting events, and designing and bringing tables to life. And taking time to create something magical; transforming occasions from logistical events into meaningful gatherings.
Receptions at Funerals, Memorials and Thanksgiving Services are really where my heart lies. Having attended a number over the years, I have found they can appear quite impersonal. This is totally understandable given the nature of the occasion. On the one hand decisions about flowers and food pale into insignificance in the context of someone precious and loved who has recently died, but on the other hand these details so matter. It is in this tension I find it a privilege to carry some of the load, as I seek to rearrange death’s dismay into beauty.
I am London based, and you’ll often find me chasing the sunrise or sunset, or pottering around the shops with a coffee in hand, before going home to cook up whatever treats I’ve found. I’ll then lay the table, light the candles and welcome friends over to enjoy whatever I’ve managed to rustle up! I love creating spaces that gather my guests with purpose and beauty, and would love to do the same for your guests.
